We began our trip to Williams last July when we booked our reservation for the Polar Express. A week ago, we decided to extend our trip by a day by staying Saturday as well as Sunday. Saturday night, we stayed at the Canyon Country Inn. It was a very cool house turned hotel. It is located right on Route 66 making it within walking distance of my new favorite coffee house, American Flyer, which by the way is half coffee house, half children’s play area, and half bike shop. Yes I know that adds to 1.5, which is why its such a cool place to enjoy a hot beverage. Sunday, we drove up to the Grand Canyon and toured the area. Aubrey got to learn how to drive on ice, the keyword being momentum. Ethan loved playing in the snow, so much that we are planning a trip back to Flagstaff/Williams for snow and sledding. We returned just in time to check into our next hotel, the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, and eat dinner before the Polar Express. The Polar Express was cool way to spend the evening. We read the book, drank hot cocoa, and sang Christmas songs. Ethan even received a Christmas bell from Santa Claus. We headed home the next day to spend it with Grandma Lisa making peanut butter balls. We finally made it home Tuesday night, just shy of 10pm. I am sure Aubrey will have more to say soon. Below are some photos highlighting the trip.
Last Tuesday, May 19th, Angie and I took the kiddos for a day trip to Sedona. We had a great time and it was nice to get away for a day. We left Maricopa at about 9:30 and arrived in Sedona at about 11:30. We proceeded onto Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock specifically. We took the kids down to the water and let them play around. They were so cute together as always! They would sit on the rock together and they loved being in the water. After playing in the water for about an hour and a half, we had a picnic lunch of sandwiches, chips, potato salad, and cookies. It was yummy!! We then went to the Downtown area to look in the shops while Ethan ad Hannah napped. We had some fabulous peppermint chip ice cream at the Black Cow Cafe. It was then time to venture home. We stopped and had dinner at the Olive Garden close to Anthem. Then we were homeward bound. We made it home at about 8:30 p.m. Ethan was out for the night and I was ready to relax and watch American Idol. It was a long day, but the kiddos did great and it was super fun!! I look forward to future day trips and the upcoming 2nd annual Fourth of July camping trip.
Photos will be posted soon! I am not good at that part yet.
The Devlins’ (Nate, Melissa, Keanna, and Carson) invited us to their home in Flagstaff for the weekend. Their home backs up to Mount Elden and its national forest. We had alot of fun. We arrived early Saturday afternoon in time to enjoy lunch at La Fonda Mexican Restaurant. It was very tasty. Then the kids enjoyed their nap. After their naps, we went in the back to enjoy the snow. It was snowing most of the day. Nate and Keanna made a great snowman named Bill, but then Keanna changed his name to something else.
Here is the photo link of all the snow fun.
For dinner we went to Flagstaff Brewing Company. I had the Stink Burger and a great Porter. After the kids went to bed, we played a game from the makers of Cramium. It was interesting. I liked the turbo round!
It was a great weekend and a great way for me to close my two weeks off from work. We thank the Devlin’s very much for the great weekend!
